consequently, they can try to find ways around those errors to try and save themselves time and effort. one of those ways is to add comments to their models to try and help the software do its job. those comments can be as specific as “this is the wrong part”. or they can be as general as “the xyz face is not facing the correct direction” or “the xyz edge is not straight”.

even though those comments are just notes, they may not get used, because the users end up confusing them with one another, and they may be overlooked. so those users may even end up with a model with hundreds of comments, simply because they didn’t use those comments to help the software.

on the other hand, there are people who are too error-phobic to use those comments at all. and the worst kind of users, those who use them to try and save time and effort, end up creating even more work for themselves, because they end up with a model that is completely unusable. thus, they end up with a model that takes longer to build, and they even end up with a model that takes longer to maintain.

so, i encourage you to take a little time to learn to use solidworks and try to use the comments. and i also encourage you to check out the capabilities of the comments in solidworks. you’ll find out that you can create some really interesting queries with them.
