Calculating a point inside a circle (3d math )

I have been looking for hours for an answer to this, please help! 😀
I’m trying to calculate whether the point is inside the circle, while also considering the angles.
So if p is the point (x,y,z) then the circle is centered around the origin with the radius r.
Point p is also inside the circle if:
1*(p.x-0)^2 + 2*(p.y-0)*(p.x-0) + (p.z-0)^2 > r^2

Now instead of the (p.x-0)^2 I want to calculate:
1*(p.x-cos(angle))^2 + 2*(p.y-cos(angle))*(p.x-cos(angle)) + (p.z-cos(angle))^2

I’m going crazy trying to find what values of x,y,z i need to calculate “1*(p.x-cos(angle))^2 +…”. I’m also using multiplications for now since it would be faster to calculate, so in the end it should be equivalent to:
1*(p.x-0)^2 + 2*(p.y-0)*(p.x-0) + (p.z-0)^2 +…

I tried to separate the problem in steps, and i failed in many of them.
