How to pass a file by location from one to another vba excel
I’ve recently began to learn VBA and I am trying to learn how to use SendKeys. I am trying to pass a file through, using SendKeys.Send. I have tried the solutions on this post, which were to use the wbFso.Files and the FileSystemObject, however my code does not execute. I keep getting errors with FileSystemObject. I want to be able to send a file from one workbook to another.
Sub Send()
End Sub
A:
You can use SendKeys to send the contents of the active workbook’s file name or its open/save path to the default system Save dialog.
Assuming the workbook is open, you would use this:
Sub SendText()
Dim txt As String
txt = ActiveWorkbook.FullName
Application.SendKeys (“Save”)
End Sub
Where “txt” would contain the full path of the workbook that contains the active cell.
Alternatively, you can use FileSystemObject to move a file.
You can use the Drive & File GIST and the FileSystemObject to work with files. See code below for this approach.
Sub SendFile()
Dim fso As Object
Set fso = CreateObject(“Scripting.FileSystemObject”)
If fso.FileExists(ActiveWorkbook.FullName) Then
If fso.FileExists(ActiveWorkbook.FullName & “.xlsx”) Then
fso.MoveFile ActiveWorkbook.FullName, ActiveWorkbook.FullName & “.xlsx”
End If
Else
‘The file does not exist (the current workbook is not open)
MsgBox “A file could not be found at ” & ActiveWorkbook.FullName
End If
End Sub
