One such cable is the PD-2-USB, a serial-to-USB converter plug which connects the USB port on a projector to the serial port of a computer.

The third method is to use a USB-to-DPMS adapter, a device that allows connecting a USB device to a DPMS (Digital Projection Mixing System) projector. This method is used when a computer is connected to a non-DPMS projector.

Most of the earlier projectors for AutoCAD supported only the first of the above methods. Recent projectors, mostly those from the manufacturers of DLP (digital light processing) and LCD projectors, usually support all three.
